Refund & Payment Policy

LETTS STORE-IT, LLC

Effective Date: September 9, 2026

Last Updated: September 15, 2026

This Refund Policy explains how payments, cancellations, and refunds are handled for storage unit rentals at LETTS STORE-IT, LLC dba LETTS STORE-IT (“we,” “us,” “our”). It supplements, and does not replace, the terms of your signed Rental Agreement, which governs your specific tenancy. In the event of any conflict between this policy and your Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement controls.

1. Rent Is Paid in Advance

Storage unit rent is billed and due in advance on a monthly basis (or other billing cycle stated in your Rental Agreement). Rent is generally non-refundable and non-prorated for partial months, except as expressly stated below or required by law.

2. Move-In / Reservation Deposits
  • If a reservation or move-in deposit is collected, it will be applied toward your first month’s rent or administrative fees, as described at the time of booking.
  • Reservation deposits are refundable if you cancel before move-in, provided you notify us at least 48 hours/days before your scheduled move-in date.
  • No-shows or cancellations made after the stated deadline may forfeit the deposit to cover administrative costs.
3. Cancellations and Move-Outs
  • You may vacate your unit at any time by providing written notice as required in your Rental Agreement (typically 15 days’ notice).
  • We do not provide refunds or credits for the unused portion of a paid month if you move out before the end of a billing period, unless otherwise required by law or expressly agreed in writing.
  • To avoid being billed for the following month, you must provide proper notice and fully vacate (remove all belongings, remove your lock, and complete a move-out inspection/checkout with staff) before your next billing date.
  • Failure to provide proper notice or to complete move-out procedures may result in an additional month’s rent being charged, which will not be refunded.
4. Administrative, Late, and Other Fees
  • Application fees, administrative fees, lock-cut fees, and similar service fees are non-refundable once the associated service has been performed.
  • Late fees are assessed in accordance with your Rental Agreement and applicable Iowa law and are non-refundable once incurred, though we may waive a late fee at our discretion on a case-by-case basis.
5. Insurance / Protection Plan Premiums

If you purchased a storage insurance policy or protection plan through us or a third-party provider:

  • Premiums already paid are generally non-refundable for the period of coverage already provided.
  • If you cancel mid-month, coverage will typically end at the close of the current billing period; premiums are not prorated unless the insurer’s/provider’s terms state otherwise.
  • Any refund of insurance premiums is subject to the terms of the applicable insurance policy or protection plan, not this policy.
6. Merchandise and Retail Sales (Boxes, Locks, Packing Supplies)
  • Unopened, unused retail merchandise (boxes, locks, packing supplies, etc.) purchased at the facility may be returned within 3 days of purchase with a receipt for a full refund or exchange.
  • Opened or used merchandise is not eligible for return or refund.
7. Billing Errors and Overpayments

If you believe you were billed in error or made an overpayment:

  • Contact us within 3 days of the charge at the information in Section 10 below.
  • We will review the charge and, if a billing error or overpayment is confirmed, issue a refund or account credit within 5-10 business days, using the original payment method when possible.
8. Returned Payments (NSF/Chargebacks)
  • If a payment is returned for insufficient funds, or is otherwise reversed, you remain responsible for the full amount due plus any returned-payment fee stated in your Rental Agreement.
  • Initiating a credit card chargeback for legitimately rendered storage services does not entitle you to a refund and may result in additional fees or lien action for unpaid rent.
9. Delinquent Accounts, Lien, and Sale (Iowa Code Chapter 578A)

Rent and fees are due regardless of whether you access or use your unit. If your account becomes delinquent:

  • We will provide notice as required under Iowa’s Self-Service Storage Facilities Act (Iowa Code Chapter 578A), which grants the facility owner a lien on stored property for unpaid rent, labor, and reasonable charges.
  • We may deny gate/unit access for accounts in default, consistent with Chapter 578A and your Rental Agreement.
  • If an account remains unpaid, the contents of the unit may ultimately be sold at a commercially reasonable sale (which may include a public or online auction) to satisfy the lien, following the notice periods and procedures required by Iowa law.
  • Amounts paid toward rent, fees, or charges prior to a lien sale are not refundable. Any proceeds from a lien sale in excess of the amount owed (and permitted costs) will be handled in accordance with Iowa Code Chapter 578A.
